National League
Buster Posey
Although Posey isn't nearly in the class of Stephen Strasburg or Mike Stanton, he is in the next class of N.L. prospects still available in the minors. There is little debate among scouts and touts that Posey will be a solid major league catcher; the question is how well will his bat play in the Majors. Many think that it's more likely he's going to be a good or very good hitter but never approach superstar status; others think that Posey will eventually offer pretty good power (20-25 HR) with a .300+ BA. How valuable he is in your league depends on whether or not you can put him at catcher. The Giants are playing him at 1B for now; if your league only counts MLB experience, then you should bid a more modest $25-30 on Posey. If he's catcher eligible, I'd push him to at least $40 and maybe higher. As a prospect comp, he's the N.L. Matt Wieters. N.L.-only owners should note that while Wieters has been a solid real-life player, he isn't lighting the world up with the bat to date.
American League
Chris Tillman
After Tillman threw a no-hitter for AAA Norfolk on April 28, many in Baltimore clamored for his immediate recall. It took a little longer, but Tillman was called up and made a solid debut against the Jays on Saturday. Some like Tillman more than others; I'm somewhere in the middle. I think he's a good prospect who could put together a long career, but see him as more of a mid-rotation type than a staff anchor. He's a fastball/curve/change pitcher who can throw all three pitches well but isn't dominant with any of the three. My biggest concern about Tillman is his fly ball tendencies and how they'll play in HR-friendly Camden. He gave up two HR in his debut, and I could see him giving up a number of dingers in his rookie season. I'd bid $16-18: a less than aggressive bid that probably won't do it in many leagues.

Thanks to Mike for picking up the supplemental on Posey while I was on vacation. Posey's hot start will certainly grab a lot of attention from bidders. He is a really good play, because some bidders will obviously be holding back for Stanton and Strasburg. All Posey will do for you is hit.
