A.L. FAAB Log Supplemental: Kam Mickolio
Kam Mickolio was part of the blockbuster trade in February 2008 that brought him, Adam Jones, George Sherrill and Chris Tillman to the Orioles for Erik Bedard. Mickolio is a flame throwing reliever who throws an incredibly hard fastball but little command of the pitch. He also has little in the way of secondary pitches. He's only 25, so maybe Mickolio can still turn into a closer-of-the-future type, but these types of prospects flame out more often than not. Some fantasy analysts are excited about him because of Mike Gonzalez's injury and the lack of a stud closer in the Orioles bullpen, but I'd temper my enthusiasm at the moment. I'd only bid $2, and even then that would be more of a bid if I had an eye on next year or could stash Mickolio on reserve to see what happens as the year progresses.
