N.L. FAAB Supplemental: Eric Young
Young is a fairly well known prospect, and his m.o. hasn't changed much from this past winter. He's got incredible speed and a batting eye that means he can hit .270 in the majors and probably still be a strong table setter. The rub is that he hasn't hit .300 in the minors since his Age 20 season in the Pioneer League. Young backers will respond that I'm quibbling, as he's hit between .290 and .299 the last four years. However, his .299 this year was at Colorado Springs, which means it's likely that he took a step back...the MLE of that BA is about .240-.250. Questions about Young's defense also remain. He should be bid on aggressively by owners playing for this year; Young got a day off today but started the first five games since his call-up. He hasn't stolen a base yet but he will run. The question is how much else will he do. Is he Willy Taveras or Carl Crawford? He probably falls someone in the middle long term, but might play out like Taveras initially.
