Mike Minor is a major source of excitement this week. Interestingly, Minor's AA numbers this year were somewhat mediocre, except for his K/9, which got close to 12 before the Braves moved him up to Gwinnett. Since Minor got to Gwinnett, well, he has been mostly unhittable. I wish I could explain to you what happened, but I really can't. His MLE for his AAA numbers makes me think number two starter...right now.
Now, there is great peril on relying on a minor league pitcher in your fantasy stretch run. On the flip side, Minor's stock has gone way up as the year has gone on, and he can help you in all four starter-oriented categories...keep in mind his K/9 only dropped to just shy of 10 from AA to AAA, which is an excellent transition for a starter.
I am recommending Minor for now, particularly this week. I think Nick said that he didn't have to bid on Minor this week. Too bad. He gets the Astros and the Dodgers in his first two starts, both decent matchups. T.J. - if WHIP is your place to gain, you may want to tread a little cautiously, as the walk rate is a little high. On the flip side, AAA hitters were hitting a paltry .174 off of him, with a 12% line drive rate. Essentially, he is missing bats by the walk and the strikeout. You won't get too many more chances, and since you can get outbid on Chapman when he comes up (assuming he isn't kept), you might want to look here.
Good luck with your bids!
