Normally, I do not write about someone owned in all leagues, but today's news is shocking. In case you do not read the internet sports pages other than ours, the Cubs announced today that Carlos Zambrano will be moved to the bullpen and assume the set-up role vacated by the injured Angel Guzman. Of course, the problem is that Zambrano is still better than at least one and maybe two of the remaining pitchers in the rotation, but apparently Piniella is never going to get fired, so what does he care?
Unfortunately, there is zero chance in even a frozen-over hell that Zambrano will become a closer. Unless you are in a holds-league, you have just taken a serious hit to your value. He'll still rack up some strikeouts, but, ultimately, you are going to need to do something with your pitching staff in order to make up for this loss.
