Yesterday, I talked about how little we have to gain in late season trades. But what if someone dangles a bigger fish?
The same owner who asked me about Asdrubal Cabrera started dangling Carl Crawford once I turned that deal down.
Unfortunately, I don't have a well-written e-mail to paste into today's post. But I can look at what Crawford could do the rest of the way and see how it helps my team.
CRAWFORD 134 AB, 42 H, 4 HR, 16 RBI, 16 SB, .313 BA.
Let's see...
I'm going to win HR in a walk so no gain there. There's a projected 30 RBI bridge from me to the team ahead of me, so nothing there either. The 16 SB only gain me a point...since I'm projected to finish four behind the team ahead of me but 26 behind the next team. In average I'm already a dead duck.
So there you have it. Obviously, it depends on how tight your league is and what your own individual circumstances are. But even with a (Roto) superstar like Crawford the same rules apply. It's hard to gain points with a little under 30% of the season to go.
