Luke French $2. Other bid $1.
French was a borderline prospect years ago, but then sort of floated into the periphery as he spent a few unspectacular years in the minors. He seemingly had a breakout for the Tigers at AAA this year, but the limited sample size most be noted. French throws a lot of offspeed offerings and his game is keeping hitters off balance; his fastball tops out in the mid- to high-80s. He's also a flyball pitcher, so while Comerica might keep a few balls in the park he's still prone to the odd HR. French has had three decent MLB starts, but I'd still take a wait-and-see approach and stash him if I could and leave him alone otherwise.
Kenji Johjima. Claimed by 12th, 11th, 8th, 5th, and 2nd place teams.
I find myself wondering whether Johjima is still less than 100%, as the Mariners started Rob Johnson and his stinky .209 BA three of the first four games after the All-Star break. Johjima still must be owned if he's available in your league. He's clearly not the player he was in 2007, but could pop a few HR before the end of the year, and will probably get more starts than Johnson if the toe is healthy.
Adam Everett. Claimed by 10th and 8th place teams.
Even as a starter, Everett doesn't have much value even in A.L.-only leagues. He used to run more, but only has three steals so far this year and hasn't offered much power either. In very deep leagues he's worth owning to move the chains, but don't expect much.
