Florida Marlins: Third Base

An anonymous reader noticed something intriguing that none of the major Rotisserie analysis web sites managed to catch:
Has anyone noticed that Gaby Sanchez has switched from 1B to 3B at New Orleans? Does this mean he's going to replace Bonafacio?
Joe Frisaro noticed. He reported this morning that Sanchez has started playing 3B for the Zephyrs and also speculates that it's possible that Sanchez might be getting groomed to play 3B for the Marlins in the near future.

FishStripes speculates further regarding Sanchez's recent position shift. FishStripes believes that the issue for the Marlins is as much who is going to lead off for the team if Bonifacio is benched or optioned as it does with who would play 3B.

I don't know if Sanchez is necessarily going to replace Bonifacio because he's playing at 3B, but I also wouldn't rule out the possibility. Since posting his 6th multi-hit game of the year on April 14, Bonifacio is hitting a paltry 5-for-46, or .109, with zero extra-base hits and three walks and 16 whiffs.

(As I was writing this, Bonifacio went 2-for-5 against the Mets tonight).

It's also possible that the Marlins moved Sanchez to 3B because of Logan Morrison. He was John Sickels' second highest-rated Marlins prospect this winter and is currently at AA ball. Morrison is only 21, but a quick start this year likely puts him on the fast track to the majors.

So, yes, I think there's a chance that Sanchez could get promoted to the Marlins as their starting 3B. But I don't have any inside information on if or when this might happen.
