Michael Barrett $14. Other bids $5, $1, $1.
Barrett socked his first HR Saturday for the Padres, but hasn't produced much at all this year. His 302 OPS is a problem, even at a softer position like catcher. He has to be owned due to the lack of options behind the dish in deep leagues, but in the unlikely event he is available in an N.L. only league, you might want to hold off on bidding $14.
Kory Casto $3. Other bid $2.
With Ryan Zimmerman on the DL, Casto has been getting most of the playing time for the Nats at third base over Aaron Boone and should be owned in all N.L.-only leagues. His numbers at AAA weren't great, but Casto has some pop and could offer a little short-term value. Watch his PT, though: a mini-slump could give Boone the lion's share of the AB and minimize Casto's impact.
Angel Berroa $1.
Berroa will get a limited window at SS for the Dodgers. He was hitting for good power at AAA Omaha, but swinging at everything, which isn't a good formula for success in the majors. He'll get a shot to play over Chin-Lung Hu and Luis Maza for now, but 0-3 nights with two whiffs will not endear you to Joe Torre.
Ricky Nolasco $1.
He hasn't pitched well this year, and is a poor play as a spot start this week against the Phillies. Rotoworld says Nolasco's throwing "harder than ever," but that still translates to over a hit an inning in the bigs.
Paul McAnulty $1.
McAnulty's still only getting quasi-regular playing time in the crowded Padres outfield. He's more valuable in OBP leagues, as his 21 BB in 104 AB make him a strong OBP guy.
Greg Norton $1.
Norton's been limited to pinch-hitting duties due to a twisted knee. He could begin starting in LF again when he's healthy, but he's typically a low average/limited power option and is a questionable pick-up even in deep leagues. The Braves should be able to do better and, with Josh Anderson, maybe they will sooner rather than later.
Augie Ojeda $1.
Ojeda's still a one-trick pony (BA) who is barely playing. Pass.
