Brian Anderson $8. Other bid $2.
Anderson picked up a decent amount of AB last week, and would probably play full-time in the OF if Paul Konerko lands on the DL with his rib injury. At this point, Anderson looks like an option for the AB only. He hit a HR last week, but it's not like he's been tearing it up as a pinch hitter.
Jeff Larish $6.
Larish should be sent down once interleague play is over and Gary Sheffield is activated off of the DL. I expected Larish to be a low BA, decent power guy, but it turns out I was only half-right, and not in a good way. The minor league numbers are certainly impressive; it's possible that Larish might be back later this year or next year with a few tweaks. It's also possible that he sinks into the Triple-A swamp and we never see him again. The timing for prospects is a funny thing. If Larish hadn't slumped his junior year at Arizona State, maybe he gets drafted and makes the majors at the age of 24 as a top hitting prospect.
Jamey Carroll $6. Other bids $2, $1.
With Asdrubal Cabrera stinking up the joint and Josh Barfield suffering a DL-worthy injury, Carroll should get most of the AB for the Tribe in the next two weeks. He's got a little speed and doubles-only power. If you need a second baseman, he's probably one of the only options sitting out there in A.L.-only leagues. Don't expect much; be happy with 3-7 steals from him the rest of the way and hope he doesn't hurt you average.
Kenny Rogers $2.
In Rogers' last four starts, he's 1-0 with a 1.24 ERA and a 0.966 WHIP in 29 IP. The key for Rogers, as always, is keeping the ball on the ground, as his K/IP is always lousy. He did that against the Angels and the A's in the first two starts of this run, but not so much against the Indians or White Sox in his last two starts. I don't recommend picking him up, but if you are going to do it, this is the week, as he's got two starts on the road against the Giants and the Padres.
Boone Logan $1.
Logan's put up some excellent numbers for the White Sox in middle relief, but his value is still limited due to a deep bullpen and a rotation that has gone pretty deep in games. Keep Logan in mind in very deep leagues, though: he's starting to shed his specialist niche with some solid numbers against right-handed batters.
Willie Bloomquist $1.
He's only 8-for-50, but he's got seven steals and is eligible everywhere except catcher and first base. In deep leagues, he's useful on a team that is strong and power and can slot someone in like Bloomquist in for the moderate speed contribution.
Justin Ruggiano $1.
The Rays OF situation is far less fluid than it was in April, so Ruggiano isn't doing more than starting 1-2 times a week since his most recent call-up. He could get additional playing time at some point down the road, but looks like a 5th OF who probably isn't worth owning.
Garrett Olson. Claimed by 10th place (tie) team.
Olson was picked up two weeks ago, then waived (wisely, as it turned out) before his start against Boston. He's a two-start pitcher this week at home against the Astros and then at Milwaukee. Despite the fact that Camden has played as a big-time HR park the last couple of years, Olson's numbers have skewed favorably toward his home starts this year. He's an OK two-start option this week, but in mixed leagues you should be able to do better.
Raj Davis. Claimed by 9th place team.
Like Bloomquist, Davis does nothing except run. In his 69 AB, Davis has 11 swipes. Unlike Bloomquist, though, Davis is on a team with a deep bench, and there are whispers that he could get DFAed once the A's are whole. Be warned.
