A.L. FAAB Supplemental

As I wrote in my last post, Foulke was bid on at $1 in my league this week.

Leagues that auctioned on Opening Day weekend typically have a more robust FAAB bidding process the week after. Players like Murphy, Blackburn, and Lowe often don't get purchased, and the result is crazy bidding wars.

Murphy went for $2 in my league at auction. He's off to a fast start, and he's already got 22 AB this year. As Rotoworld pointed out, Murphy is no great shakes, but he's just as good an option as Marlon Byrd, so it's possible that the Rangers will keep cycling him out there as long as he's got the hot hand. At the very least, he's a good short-term pick-up.

Blackburn went for $1. He might stick around over Kevin Slowey if he keeps pitching like this. He's not a hard thrower, so his margin for error is thin. He could see some success early, but I think he'll get hit in his second time around in the league.

As for Lowe, he went for $9 in my auction. The owner who froze Putz took a pass, and the bidding on Lowe was between two owners who had only one closer. So far, it hasn't been so good for Lowe, though the other options in the Seattle bullpen aren't all that appealing either. In fact, no other Seattle reliever was purchased in my auction. Lowe went for $24 in LABR's FAAB bidding last weekend, and for $37 in CBS Sportsline, which has daily transactions and weekly line-up moves.

UPDATE: Ryan Rowland-Smith picked up a five-out save for the Mariners tonight against the Devil Rays., allowing no base runners and striking out two.

Our supplemental is Tuesday (mixed league 15 teams, 25 active, 8 reserve). I picked up my usual quota of $1 players and now I have to decide which ones to dump which ones to keep. Any thoughts about:C. Quentin, Edwin Jackson, Gavin Floyd (saw your post Mike), Kevin Correia, and Jack Hannahan (I have Chavez), Matt Murton--those are the ones I plan to keep.

And Juan Uribe, Kyle Kendrick, Miguel Batista, Wilson Betimet (the ones I plan to jettison).

Who are the first to go?
