This is the one I care about. As much as I enjoy drafting the CBS Sportsline expert team for Patton, this is the league where I lay it all on the line.
I anticipate light posting this weekend. I hope to post one or two more things about draft strategy before I go dark early Saturday morning. Sunday's Easter, and I won't be anywhere near a computer until Sunday night.
I'll probably spend a little time talking about my auction. But I'd like to open it up to my 50-60 readers and ask what you'd like to see as the season goes along. I've been trying to avoid writing about the kind of stuff that Rotoworld and Rototimes are writing about, but it's hard if not downright impossible to write something every day during the season about strategy. FAAB and trading posts are only going to take this blog so far.

I'll try to think of some writing topics for you, but post-draft Roto strategy is quite limited in the kind of leagues that have 12 to 14 owners for either the AL or NL -- especially with reserves. Who's left to acquire?
I suppose it would be good to think about the large pool of pitchers usually available throughout the year. Most of us are still drafting 9 pitchers and 14 hitters, while the average mlb team seems to be keeping 12 pitchers. That means we draft 108 of 168 pitchers in the AL, but 168 of 182 hitters.
The leftover hitters are backup catchers and utility infielders.
Meanwhile, some of the pitchers will become solid roto values in 2007. How do we identify them?

Well, if Mike is drafting in the American League tomorrow, I suppose I am drafting too. Hmmm . . . perhaps I should get started.
Mike makes a good point. We would like to know what you, the readers, will find helpful over the next few months. I plan on adding my two cents on players breaking out, potential FAAB pickups, potential 2008 targets, etc. What else?

Great blog. The sort of thoughtful analysis that I used to only be able to find back on Alex P's old website (His player lists still are my starting point for auction prep). I recently saw this linked on the rotoman site and have blown a bit of time at work looking back at your earlier posts.
I enjoy reading a good writer's musings on a game that I already spend too much time thinking about. During the season, I would read as much about your league and team as you're willing to share, because it is sure to be interesting. Like rodger my auction is not until next week so I hope when you return you will post any insights from your auction.
Later in the season maybe you can give your thoughts on the long term psychology of dump trades. I am in a traditional rules AL only keeper league, and used to believe strongly in trading prospects to the suckers who easily bought into the next big thing. Then I traded Carl Crawford right before he started doing more than just stealing bases. And finished second. After the other owner extended his contract, it has been a painful 3 years waiting for him to finally get off that guy's keeper list and come back to the auction pool.
